Description The Power Route Max expands on the success of its predecessor, the Power Route Plus XL, with new features for optimal performance. New standard features include a coolant mister, additional joining bracketry and steel frame panels to enhance rigidity, self-squaring gantry, better ball screw chip shielding, more spacious cable chains, and improved homing switch placement with better switches. The Power Route Max comes with an aluminum T-slot bed featuring a divided center for quicker T-nut placement, offering excellent flexibility for clamping sheet materials or arranging multiple vises. All the rigidity enhancements make the Power Route Max 20% heavier than its predecessor, tipping the scales at over 630 pounds when fully optioned. Newly available options include a powerful 2.2kW ER20 Collet spindle and the revolutionary 2.2kW ISO 20 Automatic Tool Changing Spindle with an integrated Automatic Dust Shoe. The ATC option includes four tool holders and slots for up to 10, plus an automatic dust shoe that lifts safely during each tool change. The Power Route Max and its predecessor are often purchased by the aerospace industry, engineering firms, research labs, and a diverse array of manufacturers. Those that are focused on woodworking should consider our Mega V 2 line of machines. Those needing a Full Sheet machine should consider the Mega V 2 Full Sheet. Now with closed loop motors and drives with PID parameters specifically tuned to the Power Route Max. Achieve faster accelerations with automatic position recovery down to 0.01mm. New options include a 2.2KW 220V Automatic Tool Changing Spindle with Automatic Dust Shoe, with up to TEN tool positions. Four tool holders provided with this option. A coolant mister is now standard. This will provide better tool life, faster milling times, and improved surface finishes. You must supply compressed air to our air solenoid to operate this feature. Homing switches come standard, with inductive proximity switches on the X and Z and dual mechanical switches on the Y for a self squaring gantry. The Power Route Max adds numerous reinforcements brackets to its predecessor. There are nearly 20 steel brackets and panels not found on the preceding model that make an already rigid machine super stout! Mill a wide range of materials quickly and accurately. From carbon fiber, to steel, to aluminum, to pine, and everything in between. Control System Options: The GRBL system requires you to hook up your computer to the machine and provides a basic CNC control experience. The Masso G3 Touch system is an advanced motion control system with a large touch screen control that allows for WiFi connectivity, faster processing, and more sophisticated features while still being very easy to use. This option includes a jog handwheel and precision tool setter. Router Mount and Spindle Options: Router mount for DeWalt DW618 Router: This is not the router. It is an over 1.25” thick aluminum mount made for 3.5” (89mm) diameter routers like the DeWalt DW618 or Bosch 1617EVS 2.25HP Routers. 1.5kW 120V Air Cooled VFD Controlled Spindle: This spindle has an RPM range of 6000-24000 and does not require any external water plumbing and operates on 120V. It uses an ER20 collet system and requires that you use wrenches to change the cutting tool. No mount is requires as this spindle bolts directly to the machine’s Z Tramming Plate. 2.2kW 220V Water Cooled VFD Controlled Spindle: This spindle has an RPM range of 6000-24000, comes with a water pump and mounts to the machine with stout 1.75” thick aluminum mount. uses an ER20 collet system and requires that you use wrenches to change the cutting tool. Note that it requires 220V single phase to run. If this option is selected, the control box will have a NEMA 6-20 plug. 2.2kW 220V Water Cooled Automatic Tool Changing Spindle with Automatic Dust Shoe: This system maximizes your productivity. The spindle has an RPM range of 4000-24000 and can automatically change its own tools. A bank of 10 tool pots (4 tool holders are included, more available as an option) is positioned to the left of the machine. The spindle exchanges tools held in ISO 20 tool holders automatically, allowing up to ten different tools to be used on a single run without any operator involvement. The Automatic Dust Shoe retracts and extends automatically to give the spindle access to the tools and then returns to dust collection height. Note that it comes with a dust collection shoe, but not a dust collector. Rotary 4th Axis Option: The optional 4th axis uses a 4 jaw chuck on the headstock to outside clamp cylindrical, square, or rectangular parts up to 2.75″ in diameter and can inside clamp (such as on a pipe) up to a 3″ inside diameter. It features a planetary gearbox on the headstock that multiplies the torque of the NEMA 23 motor five times and equally increases the resolution. The 4th axis system also comes with an independent tail chuck on sliders that can be placed any distance from the headstock to allow you to machine cylindrical parts then easily unclamp and reclamp the next part. This accessory is ideal for parts such as chair spindles, baseball bats, chess pieces, statuettes, and other parts similar to what a lathe would make. Machine Specifications: Movement Range: 1275mm x 1275mm x 158mm (50”x50”x6.25”) X and Y Rail Dimension: 60mm x 60mm with up to 12mm thickness (2.36” x 2.36”; up to 0.472” thick) Bearings System: 20mm (3/4″) Heavy Duty Linear Profile Rails and Bearing Blocks Power Requirement: 120V or 220V (Depends on Spindle Option Selected) Homing Switches: X, Y, Z standard Electronics box: Laser Cut, brake bent, pre-soldered, and pre-wired Bearing Plates: Precision Cut 16mm (0.625”) Aluminum X Axis Total Motor Torque: 425 ounce/inch Y Axis Total Motor Torque: 950 ounce/inch Z Axis Total Motor Torque: 270 ounce/inch Digital Stepper Driver Max Amperage: 4.8 Amps/phase X Axis Resolution: 0.01mm (0.0004”) Y Axis Resolution: 0.01mm (0.0004”) Z Axis Resolution: 0.01mm (0.0004”) X Axis No Load Accuracy and Repeatability: 0.015mm per 1000mm (0.0006” per 36”) Y Axis No Load Accuracy and Repeatability: 0.015mm per 1000mm (0.0006” per 36”) Z Axis No Load Accuracy and Repeatability: 0.0076mm per 1000mm (0.0003”per 4”) X Axis Rapid Rate: 375 inches per minute Y Axis Rapid Rate: 375 inches per minute Z Axis Rapid Rate: 5080mm/min (200 inches per minute) X and Y Axis Drive Mechanism: 16mm Precision Ball Screw (Dual on Y with Auto Squaring Gantry) Z Axis Drive Mechanism: 12mm Precision Ball Screw Fixturing Bed: Heavy Duty T Plate Extruded Table Other Important Notes: Assembly is required. Expect at least a full weekend of assembly. This is a serious piece of machinery – not a toy. The machine is shown with the Automatic Tool Changing spindle and Automatic Dust Shoe, rotary 4th axis, and Masso Control. Note that these are optional features. The machine is about 69″ wide x 66″ deep x 54″ high with a shipping weight of about 670 pounds when fully optioned. Ships truck freight with lift gate for residential customers. Comes in a single freight box measuring about 66″ x 26″ x 26″. The Automatic Tool Changing Spindle with Automatic Dust Shoe requires 5CFM at air at 95 PSI to operate You must supply air for the coolant mister to operate. Machine is 120V or 220V single phase, depending on the spindle option selected. Water cooled spindles include a water pump that operates at 120V and must be plugged in externally. It does not come with design software, but Autodesk offers all hobbyists a free license (not a trial) for design software called Fusion 360.
